Eisa Al-Eisa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Samba Financial, has been named the 2007 Middle East's CEO of the Year in Banking and Financial Industry by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute. Mr Al-Eisa received his award at the dinner held on Wednesday 21 March 2007 in the Al Falak Ballroom of Dubai's Burj Al Arab Hotel, attended by prominent figures among them were Ministers, Ambassadors, decision makers from public and private sectors, and others.

The Middle East Excellence Awards Institute recognizes and promotes qualitative leadership and entrepreneurial initiatives which contribute to the development of the Middle East. Previous honorees of the Institute include former US vice-president Al Gore, now a respected campaigner for the global environment, and Kim Phuc, UN Goodwill Ambassador and others.

When receiving the award, Al-Eisa extended his deep thanks to the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute for choosing him for the Award. He said "It is my pride and honor to receive this prestigious award, as I believe I am representing my beloved country, Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East's Banking Sector". "It is another achievement added to the established track record of Samba ranking it in a premier position among all Saudi And Middle East banks as well".

Eisa Al-Eisa has been Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Samba Financial Group since September 2003. He started his career with Samba in 1980. In 1999 Samba took over United Saudi Bank, and Eisa Al-Eisa successfully supervised the merger. He was appointed to Samba's Board of Directors in January 2002.

Eisa Al-Eisa's appointment as MD and CEO coincided with the expiry of Samba's technical management agreement with Citigroup, in 2003, and Mr. Al-Eisa effected a smooth transition in just 37 days. Eisa Al-Eisa continued to lead Samba to its current pre-eminent position in the banking sector.

Since de-merging from Citigroup, the local management, led by Al Eisa, has continued to consistently achieve record-breaking performances, reaching new heights of innovation and supremacy, in the Kingdom and abroad. During his leadership, the bank achieved many international awards. Recently the bank was named both "the best bank in the kingdom" and "the best bank in the Middle East" in 2006, and ranked number one in seven categories within the Private Banking Sector (Euromoney Private Banking Poll, 2007)

Eisa Al-Eisa's steady rise to the top of the Middle Eastern banking world has been due in part to his special leadership abilities and strategic vision, but also to his excellent practical knowledge of every facet of his bank's operations.

On personal level, Eisa Al Eisa serves on a number of key economic, social, educational and philanthropic bodies and committees. Included amongst these are the Consultative Bureau of the Supreme Economic Council, the Supreme Commission for Tourism, Vice Chairman and Executive Committee Member of Visa International for Europe, Middle East and Africa, the International Chamber of Commerce and Investment Committee, HM King Abdulaziz and Companions' Foundation for the Gifted, the Board of Trustees of the Centennial Fund, the Council for Competition Protection, Saudi Electricity Company, the Investment Board of the Public Pensions Agency, the Board of Trustees of Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University, and the Board member of Researches and Educational Programs at King Fahd Petroleum and Minerals University.
